Plans are underway for a complete overhaul of our foyer, living room and dining room areas. Carpets will be removed, floors stripped, stained and restored to their original beauty that the architects envisioned when the house was built in 1930. In addition, new furniture will replace our very outdated and worn sofas, chairs and dining room tables. New lighting fixtures and window treatments will add to the ambience. And, of course, to accommodate today’s frequent use of Power Point presentations in sorority recruitment, a large flat-screen TV will be mounted for use by Alpha Chi members.

We have a LOT to do and little time in which to do it! Work will begin as soon as our last tenants move out June 14 and must be completed prior to recruitment this fall. Please donate NOW and be a part of our exciting renewal.

We need your help!

alumnae Alpha Chi Omega has been invited by the University to colonize in the fall of 2009! Fortunately, the House Corporation Board, comprised of a few core volunteers, has maintained the house at 638 Hilgard, renting its rooms to female students at UCLA. Necessary maintenance and repairs have been made over the years; however, no major renovations or redecorations have taken place since the 1980’s.

Now is the time for a much-needed face-lift! It was agreed that in order to lure the caliber of young women we aim to recruit, the house would need a fresh look. Your House Corporation Board recently hired professional designer Jennifer Termini, a design consultant who specializes in hotel lobbies and private residences all over the country. Jennifer’s hotel experience assures us that she understands the need for fashionable yet durable furniture. She also prides herself in incorporating “green” materials throughout her plan; a detail that should make an impression on today’s eco-conscious college students.
